Photographed in digital & medium format film…

A narrative series depicting the stereotypical day of a chain smoking, hardworking, broken ballerina. Set in silence this monologue by Delphine herself depicts random hours of her day.

Each photograph represents a window into specific moments of the so-called life of a ballerina; breakfast {a cigarette}, rehearsal breaks & solitary moments of stretching. Just Delphine, her slightly chipped fingernails, her Vogue magazine and endless cigarettes. The empty studio space embraces the lethargic young woman and emphasizes her lonely yet defiant demeanor and becomes an instrument to aid in the misconception of what the life of a ballerina is.

The final crescendo: Delphine dons her performance dress before slowly smoking a last cigarette.”
